Split line allocations

Allocate a line across available accounts or dimensions and keep the distribution balanced.

What to do

Allocation fields depend on your company setup. Distributing an amount within an allocation field and replacing one invoice line with several separate lines are different changes. Tell Clark whether the new lines should keep the existing purchase-order match and receipts or match different purchase-order lines.

A split that keeps the same match redistributes quantities, amounts, and receipt allocations without changing the underlying purchasing relationship. Matching different purchase-order lines requires separate lines with their own valid matches and receipt allocations; the old receipts cannot simply be carried to a different purchase order. Both kinds of correction can be reviewed together as one proposal. Check each match and the combined totals before applying it.

  1. Start from one line. Select Edit on the line you need to distribute. Find the allocation field and use its Add control, or open More line actions when the allocation option is there. The fields available come from your company setup and connected accounting system.

  2. Build the distribution. Add allocation rows, choose available reference values, and enter amounts or percentages as the interface requests. Choose Split evenly when it appears, or enter percentages where supported.

  3. Balance and save. Confirm the distributed total equals the source line total under the displayed rounding rules. If a remainder or over-allocation message appears, adjust the rows until the message clears. Save, then resolve any field or total validation shown on the invoice.

When one printed invoice line covers several purchase-order lines, review the proposed separate invoice lines and each line’s PO match and receipts. Confirm that their combined quantity and amount agree with the source invoice before accepting the change.
