Use Insights

Choose a company and period, understand the summary, and open the records behind it.

Choose the scope and period

Insights respects the companies and business scope assigned to you. Start by choosing the organization or company scope that you want to understand, then choose This month, Last month, This quarter, YTD, Last 12 months, or a custom period when available.

Insights workspace with spend metrics, period choices, and charts
Use the section tabs, scope, and period controls before interpreting a metric.

Read Insights from summary to detail

  1. Choose a section. Spend covers exported and projected spend. Payments & commitments covers supported obligation views. Process health covers volume and operational outcomes.

  2. Read the metric name and help text. Similar-looking measures can use different populations. For example, exported spend is not the same as projected spend across every invoice state.

  3. Compare the change indicator. On count, percentage, and time cards, a percentage compares the selected period with its configured comparison period. A dash beside 0.0% means no change, or nothing in the comparison period to compare with. Amount cards list one total per currency and have no change indicator.

  4. Use the breakdowns. Trend charts and “Spend by” views explain where the total comes from. Select a different visible dimension to answer a different business question.

  5. Open supporting records when available. Verify the qualifying invoices before sharing or acting on a number.

Read amounts in more than one currency

Clerked does not convert currencies. Every amount appears in the currency of the invoices behind it, as recorded on each invoice: $1,234.50 is US dollars, €1,234.50 euros, A$1,234.50 Australian dollars, ¥1,235 yen (which has no cents), and currencies without a common symbol show their code, such as SEK 1,234.50.

  • Total cards list one total per currency, largest first, instead of adding different currencies together. A currency that totals zero is left out while other currencies have amounts.
  • Charts and tables show one currency at a time. When the period has invoices in more than one currency, use the currency buttons above the chart or table to switch between them.
  • Invoices with no currency are shown as plain numbers with no symbol, labeled no currency. Add the currency on the invoice to include it with the others.

Resolve an empty result

If Insights shows Insights is coming soon, it isn’t turned on for your company yet. Clerked turns it on once your team has a few months of processing history, so there is nothing for you to set up.

Otherwise, confirm the scope, period, and section. A valid zero can mean no qualifying records were exported or received during that period. If you know matching records exist, contact support with the exact scope, period, section, and metric name.
