Manage Agent Memories

Add focused business guidance to an agent, keep active memories current, and archive guidance safely.

Find memories on an agent

Open Agents, choose Invoice Processing or Email Processing, and find its memories on the detail page. Memories exist for platform agents only. Custom agents do not have a memory library. Memories are not a separate top-level workspace. The active list contains guidance the agent can use; Archived contains retired guidance for reference.

Invoice Processing memories can be global or limited to specific vendors. Email Processing memories apply globally within the current company.

Memory suggestions are not generated nightly, and they do not arrive in Tasks. After Clark uses a memory on an invoice, the invoice’s Activity can show the memory-use entry and its details.

Add or edit a memory

Your team can add, edit, and archive memories on the platform-agent page when your role has the needed memory permission.

  1. Choose Add memory. Write a direct business instruction that will remain true for similar work.

  2. Choose the smallest valid scope. Use a vendor scope only when the guidance belongs to that vendor. Do not turn a one-time correction into a general rule.

  3. Save and review the active memory. Confirm the wording and scope shown on the agent page. Manually written instructions remain as written unless an authorized user edits them.

  4. Edit when the business rule changes. Recheck open work that may have relied on the old instruction.

You can also explicitly ask Clark to create a memory. Review its wording and scope, then approve the proposed action before it is saved. Clark does not edit or archive an existing memory.

If two memories conflict, the page shows a warning. Clark will not use the conflicting guidance until one memory is updated or archived.

Archive stale guidance

Archive a memory when the instruction should no longer guide future work. Archiving is one-way in the current interface. Create a new active memory if the business later needs revised guidance, and keep the archived item as history.
