Understand automatic exception resolution
The invoice agent checks an invoice for extraction and validation problems before it asks you to finish the review. It corrects issues it can determine safely and leaves uncertain cases visible for your decision.
What the agent checks
The check covers the extracted invoice structure and the rules that apply before the invoice is saved. Common examples include:
- line totals that do not add up to the header totals;
- values that disagree between the invoice header and its lines;
- duplicate tax amounts;
- missing required fields; and
- other format, type, or configured-rule errors.
The exact checks depend on your entity schema and validation configuration. The agent uses the invoice document and those configured rules as evidence for a correction.
What the agent fixes
When the correction is clear, the agent updates the invoice data and validates the same result before saving it. This keeps a fix tied to the invoice it reviewed instead of asking you to repeat a correction that the agent can establish from the document.
The agent can repair a value when the document and validation result point to one safe answer. It does not invent a value to make an invoice pass. If the evidence is incomplete or more than one correction could be right, it leaves the issue for you.
When you need to step in
Open the invoice when it reaches your review queue or shows an open notice. Read the notice chips under the invoice title and the invoice activity record, then correct the remaining field or rule issue and validate again. Select a notice chip to open its details. The agent can resolve a data-quality exception without changing your approval policy. Approval routing, permissions, and ERP configuration continue to follow your workspace settings.
Notice names, field labels, rule severity, activity labels, and available actions depend on your entity schema, validation configuration, and role. Your workspace may use a different label for the same kind of exception.
